Slimline Cocktail
Le Chuck:
I was checking out some great cocktail builds but didn't come across any ultra portables. I'm think along the lines of a decased netbook running an 17" or 20" laptop screen and using buttons/joys needing minimal clearance. I guess the idea being you can set it up on the coffee table for a game and then slide it away, or take it to a pub for tournaments. Toss a carrying handle on the side, get the whole thing battery operated (additional battery to support larger screen?) and clamp on a peice of smokey thick glass and you're good to go?
Anybody else done this and I'm just a ---smurfy--- surfer? Utilitarian? Fun? Issues with the concept? Suggestions for improved execution? Just classics, just fighters? Good project for a portable LEDwiz (how many LEDs can one run from USB power?)

I made a 50€ arcade station once, built from an IKEA LACK table. It is hollow, so all the stuff fit in.

I was thinking of the same thing the other day. but I do not want a table. I want something like the X Arcade I can move about of just sit looking pretty. I have seen similar builds but I am not sure if .37 or .84 Mame had cocktail switching. I am desperate to make a version of this:
This make me think a bit, minus the drawer:
I have a spare 17" LCD and I could pop one of the Xbox1 I have floating into it. How hard would be to make I wonder? The drawer idea is nice but I see myself gashing my wrists on the corners of the drawer.
Anyone care claim this build and tell us how it was constructed? ;D
I just got a broken 7" Portable DVD player with AV in, and I am tempted to butcher a PSOne and marry it to this display for the Coleco Tribute Arcade, or I could use my Galaxy S as the display and hack a Zeemote. I would have a awesome way to dock/charge my phone and play the games.
TopJimmyCooks:
There were a few mini/tabletop coctail cabs going around a while back.

I was into it, but they just look so uncomfortable to play. would be good if you could put them on a kitchen table and stand up, maybe.
