Rotation issues with WideScreen Computer Monitor and MAME

(1/1)

kahlid74:
So I checked the MAME forums and here and didn't find a solution that fixed my issue.  I've got a 16:9 computer CRT monitor with -norotate set on MAME running version .80 (This is the catalog of games I have).

When I run games like 1941 MAME words are upright but the game is clockwise rotated by 90 degrees.  Before I used the -norotate clause the MAME text would be rotated too.

I've tried every parameter I see in the logs but nothing prevents it from rotating.  I've turned DirectDraw and Direct3d off and still no luck.

Can someone please tell me how I can force these games upright with Black Bars on the sides?  It's driving me insane!!

Any chance you have intel onboard graphics on your system?  If so I fought the same battle (need to disable autorotate in the intel graphics driver), here's the background post for you:

Hope this helps

Brilliant!  I'm using a GeForce AGP card but the onboard Intel drivers were definitely installed as I was swapping stuff in and out.  When I get home I'll log onto it and do the steps you outlined in that thread and hopefully it will work as expected!!

Okay so here's what I did:

* Uninstalled Intel Drivers
* Rebooted
* Tried again but no success
* Removed GeForce card from AGP slot
* Reinstalled Intel drivers
* Disabled Rotation in Intel drivers menu
* Rebooted computer
* Removed the -norotate from MAME.INI
And now it works like a champ!
