Getting Vectrex up and running

Hey all,

I'm trying to get Vectrex running on MA so I went to the site and saw MESS is app I want.  I went and grabbed it and configured MA to use it, the games are listed but when I select one I just get a blank screen that I can exit out of.  I have a feeling that I have to do something with mess first.  Do I need to create an .ini like mame or change a config file?

Any ideas?
