It SORT of looks like a MK layout. It certainly would be a big compromise to both SF and MK fighting. I currently use the standard SF layout on a MK2 machine. It works fine for MK2 and MK1. MK3 doesn't like it so much, but at my house we don't play much MK3. No loss.

I'm using SlagCoin for my layout. It's easy to print out a couple of examples (make sure you get the measurements right on the print!).

I particulary like this one:
Remove the two rightmost buttons, and you have a great 6-button setup. Add a 7th button down to the left, and you've got a great layout!

I agree with nordemoniac.  The 7 button layout is awesome!  Those lower four buttons closely mimic the Neo Geo cab which has tons of good fighting games.

Mercules mentions the config I use for MK1 (minus the run button).

I actually have u360s with a 9 button layout for N64 support.  No regrets except!  I wish I mad e the two right most buttons convex instead of the traditional concave style.  Button texture (in my opinion) is very important with 7 button layouts.  You want to find a "home key" without looking.  I used a drill to dent the button my pointer finger rests on.

For me:

I'm a big MK fan also.  I have a Multi-Mk and also a Mame cab.

If I were to make a all in one and want it simple for other users.. I would most definitly NOT use a curved pattern.
I would use a pattern like this.

       x

I have that pattern on my Mame machine and play MK with out any sort of problem.  Just assign the middle buttons to BLOCK.
That setup will basically play 95% of the games out there.

What do you have against a curved pattern?  I loves me some curved pattern
