ArcadeVGA question
leapinlew:
Here I am asking more ArcadeVGA questions. I seem to have an issue, I just can't get it resolved despite doing searching and reading.
I installed Mame version .108 per the instructions at Ultimarcs website: http://www.ultimarc.com/avgainst.html I added these lines to my mame.ini
--- Quote ---# VIDEO OPTIONS
#
video ddraw
numscreens 1
window 0
maximize 1
keepaspect 1
prescale 1
effect none
pause_brightness 0.65
waitvsync 0
syncrefresh 0
#
# DIRECTDRAW-SPECIFIC OPTIONS
#
hwstretch 0
#
# FULL SCREEN OPTIONS
#
triplebuffer 0
switchres 1
--- End quote ---
Kangaroo and Burnin Rubber take up the entire horizontal monitor and look stretched. Galaga/Galaxian do not take up the entire width, but are taller and are off screen. While MK and Street Fighter look fine.
I am using Mala and I tried adding this -videoddraw -nohwstretch -switchres after the %ROM and it won't play any game. If I remove -videoddraw, it will play the game but it will still be stretched.
What am I doing wrong?

I was running an even older version of Mame, so I actually upgraded to version .108. I can try upgrading to the latest.
So, when you run Kangaroo, it runs properly in a vertical orientation or does it fill the entire screen?

ill check in a bit. im not familiar with that game. but other verticals like 1944 and games like that seem right.
