How do I correct a drilling error
notroubleclubber:
Ive been stupid and drilled a couple of button holes in the wrong place.
I wanted to put my coin buttons on the front of the cab but they won't fit because the connectors hit the othe buttons inside.
What would be the best way to fix this:
1. Fill and then recover with vinyl (the area is only about 4" by 15")
I can't just fill and paint as it's chipboard covered with melamine)
2. Just use switch blanks if I can find them
3. Is it Possible to purchase shallow buttons?I'm in the uk
Sjaak:
Happened to me once. If you can fill it, try it. But I started with a new piece of mdf and tried again.
TopJimmyCooks:
Ultimarc has Goldleaf internal leaf buttons that don't have the microswitch junk in the trunk. Might be a more compact solution that fits your application.

Don't want to hijack the thread but that's the first time I have seen those buttons... How do they perform?
TopJimmyCooks:
Drawful: Don't know, haven't used them. Not aware of any reviews out yet either. Ultimarc products are generally top notch.
NTC: there are also button plugs available from many vendors. usually flat black but I bet you could sand and paint them to blend with your melamine.
