BUT!  Buy the pre-smoked Variety.  I got the clear, thought I could just put some film on it myself.  endless frustration getting the tiny bubbles and miscellaneous specks of dust off of it.

I got some "Solar Gray" acrylic from TAP Plastics. Just got it Friday. Looks great.

Is this the kind of thing you got? How dark is it... and are you still pleased? Sorry for the 2-month bump, looking for a source of tinted plexi for my Ms. Pac Cab.

yes, that is exactly what I got.

Be warned, it is a LITTLE darker than I wanted.

Thanks. Everywhere online shipping is almost as much as the plexi. Oh, well... don't really feel like messing with someone local.

I'm actually looking for something really dark. Like dark enough that if I mount the monitor a few inches behind the glass and paint everything around it black, the monitor image would look like it's floating. Is it that dark?

yes. in fact i've not even painted the back of my plexi or anything inside my cabinet, and it's almost dark enough to not need it to hide the mounting brackets of the monitor and the like:

you can just make out the bottom metal frame amide all the reflections.

with a bit of an image on it and it's basically solid black. ignore the color temperature here, the camera (operator) was being stupid.

Home depot sometimes carries it as well. I've even seen multiple colors available there (gray, black, dark blue-ish).
