Check the MAMEDev change logs and see if anything there gives you a reason to update.

That's the only accurate answer to this question. It's a personal choice, so I'm still on .96 because of a Robotron fix. There may be more accurate versions now, but with my skill set it's inconsequential to me.

I may be mistaken, but I always thought Robotron was fixed in .99... You might not notice if you don't play both versions side-by-side. The old version runs a bit too fast.

You're likely correct, but I think at the time I specifically chose .96 because I thought the speed problem was fixed in that version. At any rate, I will now use your tidbit to justify why I suck so bad when friends are over. Heh.

Well, sad but true: with Robotron, you either suck or you don't. It's just a matter of how badly.

For MAME, it's a nice performance boost, but it can be a PITA for other emulators. Personally, in my hyperspin wheel (50 systems?) i've only run in to about 5 platforms that gave me issues with regards to Windows XP 64. I'm sure before I call my cab finished, i'll have OS images for XP, XP64, 7 64, and 7 32...
