Dual Trackball in MAME; How do I do this?
goldenageofarcade:
Hi,
I'm hoping to find out how to make 2 trackballs work in MAME. Is this dependant on the version of MAME? Or the OS? Or is there a gadget that allows for it? I really want to make a Marble Madness control panel for my machine, and hopefully without updating my rig (running Win2K with whatever version of MAME was out circa 2003).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Regards,
Ryan
SlayerAlex:
im not the most knowledgeable on the subject, but i think i did this once by configuring 2 Mice as mouse X and mouse Y.
so you would need 2 trackballs wired and configured as mice. Like with 2 special USB trackballs, or with a normal trackball and optipac
goldenageofarcade:
Yeah, they'd be mice, but the problem is, or I should say, was (at the time I built my cab) is that for some reason, only 1 mouse could be recognized at a time, if you plugged 2 to the same machine, both would control the same thing, there was no way to make them control independantly from each other. It seems that this is no longer the case, though I'm not sure if it's because Windows now allows it, or if there's a MAME version that allows it, or some other factor that makes this possible.
Hoopz:
You'll need a newer version of mame to have to trackballs attached. Multiple mice was added in 2006.

Also IIRC it is impossible on Win2K. You need at least XP or Server2003.
