New issues with Daphne
jukingeo:
Hello all,
I seem to be having some trouble lately with the automatic updates that Daphne is doing. Prior to this week I had been using Daphne since version 1 and initially I didn't seem to have a problem with it on either a system connected to the internet or a stand alone cabinet.
It seems that now Daphne is demanding an internet connect and if it doesn't get it, you cannot run your games. This is VERY bad for a stand alone cabinet system.
Ok, so I connected my computer to the internet for updates and now Esh's Aurunmilla comes up with an error message stating that the game has an "immature driver" but it will still run.
I know that I could probably back-pedal a bit and reinstall the old version 1 of Daphne, but I would also like the program to stop parsing the internet for updates as I think that the new updates has caused this problem in the first place.
Bottom line - If the program was working, DON'T FIX IT!

Use. 996
Besides the files you have do not require 1.0.
Just run via command line.
You would be better off. 1.0 Requires you to "share" 24/7.
Like you I do not see the point. ;-)

Anyone know where to download version .996 from?

Umm, no it doesn't... You can disable the downloading and sharing from within the options in 1.0.

Hello Ark_ader,
Nice to hear from a good friend again! I can't thank you enough for all the help you gave me on the Xbox. In fact if I don't get this straightened out, I probably will have to rely on those modded Xbox's!
I don't know but I just had a funny feeling that when Daphne required the internet connection, I knew they would do what Mame does and eventually the romsets (or what have you) will soon become "outdated". Sure it may sound easy to revert back to 1.0, but the problem is that if you just connect that machine once to the internet, then boom it is probably going to ask to download the update.
Grrrrr!
Ok, so version .996 doesn't need an internet connection. But can it do Linux? One of the "pros" of my setup is that I intend to use Lubuntu, which is a lightweight version of Ubuntu. Load up Daphne and a front end...set it up and go! I could put it all together in a small ITX LAN box.

Ok, that sounds like plan too since I already have that version. But the kicker is, HOW do you do it?
Thanks,
Geo
