Spinner not recognized by win 7 64bit

I installed Win7 64bit on my Dell, and the spinner worked as expected, so it must be at least partially related to my new box. After some more playing around I discovered that if I plug the spinner into a powered USB hub then windows sees it as expected.

I've seen this with USB keys. I'd refrain from plunging it and unplugging it as much as possible. Either your USB port or plug might be going bad--But really that's just a guess.

Could also be that your mobo just isn't suppling enough current to the ports or perhaps there is another high drain device on that segment. I've seen laptops bad about this with bus powered external harddrives. Also some cables. I've got a short usb extention cable less that three feet that exhibits similar symptoms with various devices.

Good call; I totally missed the fact that it was a "powered USB hub" I'd be leaning towards that over a bad connection.
