(1/5) > >>

hi all just wondering about the two..

i see on the jamma website that you can buy these jamma boards for arcade cabnets, i was wondering the following

any up side to having this instead of a Mame machine

which plays better, eg speed wise, freezing etc??

which has less errors??

thanks all just getting as much info with everything before i look at getting a machine done

link to what im after
saint's note - no links to illegal products please.

BobA:
It is mame on a PC board so there is no real difference except that it is an old version with a underpowered CPU and you have less leeway to make changes because it is prepackaged for you.

Don:
The benefit of the jamma board would be that it will boot straight up into a menu for selecting games, unlike windows which you have to try and hide etc.

And the benefit of the PC would be control over what games, menus, controls etc, along with the option to add more content if required

P.S. i've never used a xxx-in-1 jamma board so just going off what i've seen

The jamma board uses either windows 2000 or XP so it can hide the windows boot up.  Again they have just done the work of hiding windows and packaging it with a front end.  You can do the same with your own PC and MAME.

oh ok thanks for that, i dont mind if i have to boot up and i see windows at all tbh

if theres no real difference i think im better off using the newest version of mame etc...

will games run better if there on the new version of mame? (making sure i have the matching rom of course)
or are they better on the older version jamma board
