I'd go to amazon and look for a refurb....Her are some other possibilities, the Dell is the same monitor as the HP, in a different case. I have one, its really beautiful, and I spent $140 on it @ amazon....

Dell - 2007 FP
NEC - LCD2170NX

Do you have any videos or pics of your monitor. Also is it in a cocktail or cabinet or none at all.

However, as far as LCD's stand the ability to easily rotate is a very convincing feature.

The thing you need to check on is whether or not this display has a noticeable amount of input delay when playing games.

What CRT's do you recommend. any pics of yours in action

For arcade games I recommend the Sony PVM series.  Mitsubishi and NEC also make good monitors.  These are all professional video monitors that come in a case like a TV but can take arcade resolutions.

I personally use a Mitsubishi AM-3501R

I wrote a review here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=94775.msg1093864#msg1093864

For you I think one of the newer PVM's would be just right.
Maybe something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-TRINITRON-COLOR-VIDEO-MEDICAL-MONITOR-PVM-20L2MD-/150519176672?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230ba45de0

If you really want the ultimate though I recommend tracking down an NEC XM29.  That seems to be the rolls royce of pro studio monitors when it comes to arcade games.
