NBA JAM - Wii
« on: September 22, 2010, 03:02:33 pm »
I have been waiting YEARS for this....  Old school NBA JAM style game with a new age twist.

I have pumpped $1000 into that arcade machine growing up.  I built my first MAME machine with NBA JAM in mind.  Comes out next month on the 5th for the Nintendo Wii.  Xbox 360 and PS3 is getting a version called NBA Elite 11

I believe the wii version is the full one and nba elite will come with a download code for a stripped down hd version. Will be interesting.

Xbox 360 and PS3 is getting a version called NBA Elite 11

No, that's not quite true. People who purchase NBA Elite 11 (EA's former NBA LIVE series renamed) will get a "free" download voucher for NBA Jam for their respective system.  Supposedly, they will not be selling the game through any other means on either system, so if you want NBA Jam on PS3/Xbox... you gotta pay 60 bucks for a game you may or may not want.

Personally, that's precisely why I'm not buying it. I am not going to inflate sales for a game I don't want, and won't actually play, just to get the game I actually do want.  I'll wait them out.  Sooner or later, EA will release Jam as a downloadable title on PSN/Live... unless they really hate money.

Edit: Ninja'd by amendonz  But I will add that the HD versions WILL have online play... I believe the Wii version is the one that's incomplete in this case.

every year I have a NBA JAM tourney... about 10-15 people every year.  It will be nice to set up my Wii on another TV so I can now have 3 games going at a time.

so there would be a playable arcade version?

My wife, to this day, is still pissed off at me for selling my NBA Jam JAMMA board years ago.  The fact that I put it on the MAME cabinet was of no consolation whatsoever.

 :-\

I told her about this Wii game. "huh?" was her response.   :P

That's a ROFL if I've ever seen one!

I'll swear till I die that the computer still cheats even if you have it turned off.

Wasn't the game programmed to "help" whoever is losing?  3s would fall in more often for whomever was down by 10 points.  If you use a "on fire" code and your team is ahead by a large margin, your teammate (who can't be on fire at the same time) will CONSTANTLY miss dunks, even with a high dunk rating.

Hm by stand alone I hope they mean on xbl. Ea's so greasy

Edit: just read it has been delayed due to massive negative feedback on the demo. Hopefully they sort it out. It was looking pretty awful.
