...im working on it.  I really cant understand how some people can play past level 10 on a single man.

Level 10 or 10th screen? The 10th screen is pretty easy after a while..

Also, the difficulty plateaus after the 3rd springs so it then becomes more about concentration and avoiding wild barrels than anything else.

When a person calls any game a kids game (except where explicitly marketed as such - i.e. Sega Pico) I automatically assume said person is actually a kid who's allowed to play M-Rated games after he finishes his homework.   ;D

To be honest, I thought it was a kid's game when I first started playing it in ~1982  :D
