First build from scratch advice: TV or CRT Monitor?

For a first project, my opinion would be to go for a TV.

Connection is as simple as a power cord and video input. Do like I did and modify your designs so that your tv will fit inside the cabinet without needing to be decased.

Just my two cents.

thanks... but i will de-case it. I have found someone who is an electrician, he will decharge it for me for free.

I do not wanna use the speakers from the tv, and the case is just too wide. I have some pics of the trinitron here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=103777.0

ok i have a question about this as i am mounting a 25 inch true flat tube style tv.  how can i make it turn on every time it gets power without the need to hit the power button on the tv every time

Celsius:
you'll have to go in service mode to make it switch on, on power. To find the key combination to get in service mode, type model nr + service mode in google, but look out changing the wrong options could mess up your tv.
