Trackball only working vertically?

(1/2) > >>

Huskerfan:
I have a Happs trackball in my homemade standup arcade machine and recently it's started to only work vertically.  I try to go sideways with it and it won't.  I troubleshooted with a standard mouse and the mouse works just fine.

I assume maybe there's a switch attached to the trackball board that's burned out or something?  Just thought I'd ask you guys before I buy a new trackball.  Maybe a simple fix. :)

Thanks in advance.

Dont mean to offend, just gotta ask, is the connector on the right way?
same happened to me and if it isnt the wires arent in the right place

switch em around and see if it only goes l-r

Hey, no offense!  I'll take any advice!

Are you talking about the usb connector?  Cause those only go in one way.

Smeghead:
no the 4 or 5 pin connectors that attach to the circuit board on the trackball

Mines a Happ and it has 2 boards, 1 each side that hold the transmitters and receivers for the wheels to pass through. If the connectors that attach to those are the wrong way round youll get this behaviour as I did

Also of course make sure the wheels are actualy turning when you move the ball

If it's USB and it's connected to a hub, make sure the hub has enough power to run everything that's connected to it.

Many powered hubs are actually underpowered.

I had probs with my trackballs and U360's till I got decent hubs with enough power for everything attached to them.
