Control Panel Slant Question

(1/2) > >>

Desolis:
Hi guys, Been reading over the site for a few weeks and just recently signed up. Love so many of the projects all of you have done. I've got the rulers, pencils, and graph paper out and I'm drawing up the plans for my first cabinet. I've looked around at some of the other projects and have tried to get an idea as to the answer to my question, but my results have been sketchy at best.

I'm wondering if there is a standard or recommended angle to slant the control panel at? For example: If i have a CP that is 24"x 12" and the box at its rear point is 6" tall what would be a good height to make the front of the box to add a comfortable slant?

DashRendar:
It's a personal preference.

That said, people tend to raise the back 1 1/2" to 2", depending on the depth of the control panel and the desired slant.

If you want it in terms of angle, that's around a 15 degree angle.

Desolis:
Perfect. That's what I needed to know. I was leaning towards 2" already. Thank you much.

wweumina:
I would say less is more.  I just redid my control panel box because I thought the slant was too much.  It was originally about 18 degrees and I've revised it to about 10 and I'm much happier.

gwjrabbit:
I went with 11 degrees, with the caveat that even that feels too much on my analog stick.  Great for basic button mashing though.
