5/8" T-Molding Dimensions
TheGameFan:
I am restoring a Plateau Z-Back cab and the T-Molding is 5/8". However, it appears to be offset (the "T" is off-center so that there is 3/8 on one side and 1/4 on the other). Is this normal?
TheGameFan:
I hate it when people bump posts, but I need a response ASAP so I can order my molding.
Is T-molding always symmetrical? I am thinking if I order standard 5/8", it'll be 1/16 too short on the inside and 1/16 too long on the outside.
3/4" would be perfect on the inside, but 1/8 too wide on the outside. I still haven't picked up a router, so trimming it isn't really an option.

Sounds more likely that it was 3/4 molding that was just trimmed to me. That would explain the off center.
DEMENTED:
Are you sure its not 13/16 ths offset see http://www.tapeease.com/t-moldin.htmfor many t-moulding dimensions.
TheGameFan:
Looking at it closer, it does appear to be trimmed. Since it was a factory cab, I didn't even consider that. They must've used 5/8" wood, but got a better price on 3/4" T-molding.
I saw another thread where someone mentioned using a chisel along the edge. I might try that, just afraid I'd nick the wood.
