drventure:
It's pretty funny, unfortunately pretty true too  :-\

I have a sense of humor actually, and enjoy a good laugh... but this was
dry and forced crap  Imop.   Looks to be written by some young gun, who has
no real clue about the games they wrote about... nor the real causes of the
arcades death.

wow. this kid is a total jackass. Space invaders the most iconic arcade game? hardly. that title will pretty much always belong to Pac-Man. And the fact that he compares everything to the 360 just illustrates how dumb this kid really is. My bet is he's about 15 years old and he started gaming with the original Xbox or PS2. And I might add that arcades are alive and well in the USA today. I know because I run one. One thats been open for just about a year now and has been making a TON of money. I also attended the Amusement Expo in Vegas back in March and got to see all the great new games manufacturers are coming out with. There is a lot of new stuff out and coming out. Arcades aren't going anywhere

Benevolance:
Wow. This is obviously a sensitive subject. :P

I thought the article was funny!

I'm in agreement,  whoever wrote that is either still in highschool or one of the "Playstation is the greatest thing ever!" people.

-No mention of Pacman?  No endless sequels and the name is still ubiquitous,  and still to this day the subject of endless visual jokes like the road out west which recently used giant dots to show people how far apart cars should be on the highway...quickly had someone spray paint a pacman on it.

-Mortal Kombat among the worst?  It quickly eclipsed Street Fighter.

-Dragon's Lair?  Sure it wasn't the most gameplay intensive,  but it easily stands with Pacman and Donkey Kong as one of the most popular games in it's time...and still sells today.

Honestly,  whoever wrote that probably has never been in an arcade,  and pretty clearly doesn't understand it.

Made even more entertaining by virtue of the fact that he missed realizing the Neo Geo's price tag was pretty close to the same number the PS3 released at....
