Coin Door Question: Home Version vs Mech

(1/3) > >>

dawolv:
Hey Guys,
I need some advice on these two style of doors and cant find a write up one.
Home Arcade:
=========================Home Version======================================

=========================MECH ONE===========================================

I will not be using the door to operate a 'Coin In' switch but I do want the Coin Eject Button to light up.
I also do not need the Coin Collection box since I wont be using coins (I think the novelty of it will wear off quickly)

Does anyone know the dimensions of these doors?
Does the Home Version open?
Can we use the GGG NovaGem Coin Button?

Thanks!

WBHarrison88:
I actually have the dual slot home version.

I'm not at my house, wont be back till tomorrow maybe but i do know the door does open. you could light them via LED by just throwing an one down there i assume. the coin buttons do push in but the coin doors a the bottom do not. as far as the GGG button, im not sure on that either. Hope this was helpful somewhat

ill try to get measurements tomorrow if someone does not get to it before hand

Epyx:
As far as I know the home versions are blocked off on the coin rejects (as shown in the picture) and are more for show (no mechs)...at least that is what I thought.

CheffoJeffo:
You can EASILY find a better option that the home coin door for less money (I've never paid that much for an actual coin door ... seems silly to pay more for a door that doesn't even work). The door obviously opens, but why bother?  Might as well just get a sticker from GGG.

Cruise eBay and BST -- it is pretty damned easy to find a cheap coin door that will do what you want and there are lots of tutorials if you get one in need of deep restoration.

WBHarrison - Thanks! I would like the Two Coin Door one as well but I am worried about the size since my wife made me slim down the original version I had in mind.

Which by the way *JUST TODAY* she looks at the side that has been cut out and tells me "Hey... that is small"  :angry:

The Mech one would be cool just "to have" but that one is like $90 (I can buy cooler stuff for that much :laugh:), there are some on ebay true enough but they are pretty expensive for the condition they are in (no blast box here) but ... hmm... *looks around for the wife*  >:D

The Home Version however is $32.95 from Arcade Emulator and its new and should give me some more room inside the case and still give it a retro look.
If WBharrison is right...I could rig up some LEDs and wire them up behind the coin buttons though I would like to use those Novagems ... /sigh too many choices.
