That's why I started out by saying "not important"

I've played DK since it was out in the arcades, although here in the UK we got the JP version which is inferior to the US set 1. So I've only been playing US set 1 for around the last 2-3 years. I had to totally relearn my strategy on the barrel boards. My current high score is 161K but I still haven't mastered when to retrace my steps when needed on the elevator level. It's not enough to just go on the "right" spring.
However onto my point... I feel like I'm about to burst a dam. I'm much better on the barrel boards than I ever was. I can control the barrels fine now but I'm not at the point of regularly bunching barrels up and then retreating lower down to rejump a cluster. But if I can crack that elevator level then I reckon I can go to 200, 300K plus. Not sure how much harder the game gets. How players avoid those really wild barrels that zig zag the entire screen at speed must just be down to luck. I tend to lose most of my lives on the rivets screen.

ill call BS until its proof its a Original.
It very possible he has the DK, DK JR, Mario cabinet that will allow you to continue when you die, and keep your score when you continue, which could explain the high credit total.
The D&B in my area has a high score of 550K+, and thats the type of machine. 1 credit I got to 80k~.
Not saying its not possible because it obviously is, but i say proof is needed.
Id be nasty at DK too if i could keep my score with 100 credits.....
oh and like Billy Mitchell says "when someone says I got a high score, I ask how much did it cost you?"

They have such a thing? And it's "very" possible is it? And even if they did.... good luck getting past the 3rd elevator stage. Damn springs.

LOL. I saw a comment on that site earlier that made me laugh "How will Billy Mitchell VHS his way out of this one?" referring to the new world record. I dont know the guy, but kinda seems like a d-bag.
But with these type of machines, YES they do exist!(White Flint Mall, D&B Rockville MD) I played it. he makes a valid point about claims of high scores...the game is identical to the original, but when you die it asks you to continue, you put money in and it starts you with 3-4 extra lives on that same level you died on with the same high score...atleast on this particular machine. again...shenanigans! until proof! lol
