PC interface using PS2 controller with USB adaptor?

(1/1)

Has anyone tried this before? I have a old DDR wood frame metal pad that I made a few years back, and i had to hack open the PS controller and solder the wires for it to work.  I know that I could easily take that interface from that old thing that needs to go in the trash anyway, and wire it to my control panel...but would there be any key issues when using the USB adaptor with this?  I have used a PS controller with my USB adaptor before for Emulators for NES and SNES and it seems to be fine, so I am guessing it will be ok.  Anyone try this before?  Im really trying not to spend another 30-50 on an i-pac or x-arcade board if I dont have to. And since its for my DK build, there are only a few buttons i need anyway. And no, i didnt search yet....lol

A lot of PS1/PS2->USB adaptors won't work right for DDR.  This is becaues the adaptors won't let you do things like press two opposing directions at once, like say, up and down.  This makes them ineffective for DDR.

You'd have to do your research on the adaptor you buy first.

well i dont want to use it for DDR, i want to use it for my Control Panel, the USB adaptor is from Radio shack, i just found it when cleaning up my room so i think i could probably get away with using it.
