Gauntlet Legends pedestal and control panel

(1/3) > >>

jeelani:
I found a Gauntlet Legends pedestal and control panel and I am considering buying it.  There is no pcb or anything included.  The guy wants me to make an offer, what do you guys think its worth?  Also has anyone modified the control panel?  I am thinking that it wouldnt be too hard.  Can the gray plastic housing for the control panel be painted?  How can I make use of the built in speakers?  I need to make a decision quick so I look forward to getting some advice.  BTW, I am planning on using a standalone LCD with the control panel/pedestal.

Could you clarify little bit. Maybe if you got picture you could link it, it would be helpfull.
Plastic can be painted if that is what you are asking.
What do you mean by how can you make use of build in speakers? Do you mean how to wire them to computer or? It depends if the speakers are active or passive (do they need an amplifier). If ampilier is there just give it power and hook speakers to any audio output and you got sound. If they are passive or amplifier is removed you need to add amplifier.

I have never seen that arcade cabinet alive but I try help if possible :)
Can't say about prices but seller should allways say price.
I don't personally respect much sellers who ask me to tell price and when i say, they say its too low.
So offer him low price, if he declines then ask him to stop playing games and tell you how much that cabinet is, after that you can decide if its worth it.

Keep in mind that the CP includes 4 players withi 3 buttons and a 49-way joystick each.  You will probably want to add more buttons to start with, but the joysticks are the key here.  If you use the sticks that come with the cab, you will need to get 4 GP-Wiz49 controllers (or something similar).  You will then need at least 1 other controller for the buttons.  Alternately, you could try to sell the 49-way sticks and install something else that you prefer (and doesn't require so many controllers).

The OP is probably referring to this, which was used in a custom cab build by another member on here named Paladin.  Here are some images from his project.

There are speakers in the area on both sides of the picture above the player controls.  To drive the speakers you could buy something like this from ebay like I did.  I plan on wiring this up to a set of car speakers later when I finish my showcase cabinet as opposed to gutting an existing set of Logitech 2.1 or 5.1 speakers.

With regards to the control panel you could always re-drill the control panel as best as you can to suit your button layout and put on new artwork if the existing art doesn't come off easily and then put a piece of plexi and you should be good to go I think.  I was thinking you could reuse the joystock positions for P2 and P3 but P1 and P4 would make for very awkward viewing angles.  Perhaps Paladin will chime in and give you some advice.
