Hey,

Just wanted to let you guys know that Capcom has SFIV available for $20 (downloadable version only).  You can order it from their website.  I have the DVD version, but you must keep it in the drive for it to play.  It slows the game down.  So I purchased the downloadable version to cut down on load time.  Especially now that the keyboard patch is out and it works with arcade cabinets, you can't beat the price.

Where was this three weeks ago, when I bought my copy?  Talking to you is like banging your head against a wall!

Might still get this for the no-cd aspect (rather than getting no-cd patches from shady sites). I'm guessing the keyboard patch still works with it.

1. Is there any pre-loading menu box like the CD version, or does the game load directly? I'd like to not have a launcher menu when using it with my front end.

2. How easy is it to move from system to system? If my cab PC crashes and I have to reinstall my OS (like I just did), can I just reinstall this program without a problem?

Why wouldn't you guys just create an ISO from the dvd you have and then mount it as a virtual drive using something like daemon tools?

I read that the program can detect if virtual drives are being used. Don't know if it's true.

No I did it and it worked for me.  No load times.  But I have a 5400 hdd so it is still a little slow.

Of course.  Those of us with money pay for stuff so you free-loaders can get stuff for free...you know, just like the Obama administration.

Though I agree with you, there's a board for this. Let's leave it there.

I'm betting they're offering at that price so they at least get some money out of it.

Well, I uninstalled it and loaded it up.  Works perfectly without the mess of a DVD check.  Nice.  I can ebay my DVD version now that I bought the digital download.   Clap clap clap!

1)  Yes, there is a pre-loading menu box like the CD version.  Bummer!  But you can bypass it by setting up a macro in Autohotkey to hit enter automatically.
2)  It was pretty easy to move.  After it downloaded it uncompressed it.  Then it automatically started the setup program.  I cancelled it and then searched for the folder it uncompressed into.  I actually burned the setup directory to DVD for archival (I copied my reg info into a text file and added that to it before burning).  It downloads and uncompresses it to the following folder:  C:\documents and settings\(insert user here)\local settings\temp\downloads\SFIV_Setup
I'm pretty sure you can re-install it as long as you have the registration info (reg keycode).

Works great!

I just wanted to add that the ISO mounting was not an option for me.  It would use up extra resources that I didn't have.  My arcade has minimal stuff installed so that it will run faster.  I didn't want to bog it down with extraneous programs.
