They need to get Michael Bay to direct Asteroids.  He'll stick to the original story (ie: there won't be one) and the explosions will be phenomenal.

Hrm.  They could get the guys who did Star Trek to do it.  They could just cut and paste all the scenes of random space stuff floating around.  That would fill nearly 45 minutes.

Could be funny as a Will Ferrel comedy.  Lone starship pilot whos job us clearing asteroids for the mother ship. His ship only fires one bullet at a time and he can't fire another one until the first bullet is "done".  Throw in a ton of 80's video game references and ya got yourself a nice little niche movie that will fail at the box office, but we here will love.  :)
