The game is mostly complete except the chasis and moniter board is missing, also missing one steering wheel. The game supposidly came up scrambled when it was last turned on? So I'm not sure about the condition of the PCB. Anyway this one is going to take a while. Does anyone know what kind of chasis this game came with? Also, does anyone know where a new CPO and Side art can be found?

This should be interesting.  I'm trying to find an Off Road that I'll be restoring.  Good luck with the artwork, I've been looking everywhere and can't find anything.

Even the yoke is rememoved....that's a shame, else you could have bought a new chassis.

I had the chance to by one over here that looked very nice and was working for not much money but I simply don't have the space for something like that. Never played it, but played similar game on Atari ST and it's great fun IMHO. I'm sure the arcade controls only add to the fun.

I'm on a very slow GPRS connection now, but here's the manual, maybe that will say anything about the monitor they used.

Side art may be difficult to find.  There was some recent talk on KLOV about someone getting it scanned, but I don't know where they left off.

At least they left all that copper wire meticulously wound around plastic with 4 wires coming off of it into a convienient connector on the neck of the monitor in pictures 3 and 4...

Yoke is there.  Appears to be a K7000 mount.  Not sure about the condition of the neck though, looks broken.

Well given the difficulty of finding parts for it, I wonder if I'd just be better off pulling it apart and selling the pieces on ebay?
I'll have to look when I get home but I think the neck is fine? I don't remember seeing anything that looked broken on it?
Anyone know where to start looking for the chasis for this thing? Ebay?

25" K7000 chassis are pretty easy to find.  Or you can get a replacement chassis.

Do you have any other monitors to hook up to it?  Doesn't have to be 25", just have to be able to hook it up to test the boards.

Wow, I was trying to play this in mame32 the other day and could not for the life of me remember the name. It wasn't under Off Road. I guess I should've tried under I for Ivan.... or is it under S for Super?

Well the neck seems to be in ok shape. I don't see anything obvious wrong with it??
I really don't have any other non Jamma cabs to hook it up to to check the condition of the CPU.

I'm pretty sure the side art will all come off in one big piece, the black laminate on the entire game is coming off really easily. I wonder if someone had a way to scan it, then do some photoshop work on it, if they could get it near perfect? It's an option I suppose if I can't find it anywhere? Has anyone attempted to do anything like that?
Also where do you find that black laminate that is on the sides and front?
Here is a pic of the black laminate coming off along with the side art...

Other than some minor bending to the pins, and being dirty, it looks okay.  It was just that one picture that made it look broken.

Doesn't have to be a JAMMA cab, just has to be a working monitor.  Pretty much any one (that's not medium res) will do.

Because it's not a medium res game.

Or is it?

Ya know I'm not sure?! Anyone know the answer? On another note, I got the side art off last night, and got it cleaned up, it actually doesn't THAT bad. Worst case scenerio, I guess I could re-use it as is. The CPO on the other hand, I don't think there will be any saving it. Anyone know where to find a CPO for this game?

AFAIK it's a standard res game.  Which means you can use nearly any standard res monitor to test the board.

Don't know what it was, but I sure FU'd there ! Most have been half-a-sleep..... Cheesy

I can get a K7000-25" chassis if you need....but would require shipping from Europe....

Shipping from Europe huh? What's that run? Since I'm in no huge hurry with this thing as it needs a LOT of work, maybe I'll just keep an eye open on Ebay for a while? What would a fair price be for a
K7000-25" chassis?

I got the side art off in two nice pieces!  Clap clap clap!
I'm hoping a photoshop wizard can scan it, repair it!?
I managed to clean up most of the grime and grit off the left side, if all else fails I can always put this back on?!? I'd rather not though......

I'm hoping I can get the CPO off in 4 pieces, the top, and the three colors on the bottom? I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that they come off just as easy? This art is definatley a bit more weathered. I HOPE it can be scanned and repaired as well? It will be a bit more difficult I think due to the wear?!

I'm working on a Super Off Road theme for Hyperspin.
Tarman, if you're offering to clean up the artwork can I get a copy? Otherwise, I can maybe work on it this weekend.

This is an improvement but I think you're going to need to borrow a scanner and scan the left cabinet side piece by piece.

The other option is vector tracing but I still recoment a much higher res picture to start with.

That does look better. I'm hoping that Tarman will be able to work his magic on the side art and CPO. I got the CPO off in one nice oiece too, but there will be no saving the part off the CPO that surounds the steering wheel. The Contol panel itself was is terrible shape, someone had used a bunch of screws and some kind of glue to try to hold it together. It made things very uneven and didn't the whole things didn't want to stay together. I stripped everything and filled all the holes with bondo and got the whole thing looking pretty good.

Me and one of my room mates were joking about how awesome it would be to have one of these in the house. Every year my family would go to the poconos when I was little and this was the only video game the crappy lodge had. Really nice find. good luck with it

HA! Great story! Funny how a stupid game brings you right back to some of the most fun times of being a kid!  Smiley I think thats the thing I enjoy the most about the hobby!
Hey anyone know when they are going to get the picture posting function fixed on this board? I've made a little progress and would like to post a few pics with an update!

I sent it off to Tarman a week or so back to try and restore it. He is going to scan it using a high resolution scaner and see if he can clean it up. The CPO was pretty trashed, but he thinks he'll be able to fix it all. So with any luck we'll all have some nice repo artwork. Keep checking back here I'll be posting the progress. I noticed that the picture posting is fixed, I'll try and get some pics of the slow progress I've been making......

That is good to hear.  If your control panel is too messed up I can send mine off cause it's in good shape, just a little dirty.

Here is the CP, it was glue and screwed together and was a major pain to get apart! I managed to get the CPO off all in one nice piece.

One of the steering wheel  is missing a bearing. This can be seen in these pictures. Does anyone know a replacment bearing that would be compatible?
