In Oklahoma, we like to think of those four states between us and Canada as insulation.

When I lived in QC, it was cold a lot longer than it is here in MA, and most people in the US consider MA winters fairly harsh.

Usually, we (here in Ottawa) get a snow flurry around Halloween. Then we usually get a storm or two(small) before Christmas, it then gets realy nasty from January to about March, then starts easing up, so worst case Dec - Mar = 4 months of cold weather. Heck, its a 6 degrees celcius right now, 42 segrees Farenheit, but we don't consider THAT cold, whereas in Okie or Texas, THATS COLD MAN!!!

I remember it being much worse in my younger years. I remember making tons of cash shovelling peoples laneways and the snow banks were huge then. Lately, I've only had to take the snow blower out maybe 4-5 times a year.

And they say Global Warming is imaginary. Hah!

If more people read up on Global Warming, they would understand that Global Warming really means harsher seasons in both directions as well as increased storm activity.

Global Warming means hotter summers and colder winters.

Quebec = Canada but Canada != Quebec
Just as MA = USA but USA != MA

I'm sure the witches in Vermont and Maine have it much harsher than the Nuns in Toronto.

No, but since we were talking about Toronto, which is not all that far from QC, it was a good reference point for talking about Toronto, which is not all that far from QC.

No, but since we were talking about Toronto, which is not all that far from QC, it was a good reference point for talking about Toronto, which is not all that far from QC.

It's 6 hours north east. That takes you significantly more northward (ie: colder)

Just look at current temps:
45' F in the Niagara region, while it's 37 in the northeastern tip of the US.

The difference of a few degrees is enough that it makes a big difference when that range is straddling the 0' C point. Montreal will get snow sooner, than Toronto. When I was living in TO, I never needed snow tires (all-seasons were good enough). It sometimes snows, then week later it melts. In Montreal though, it snows, and snows and it piles up.

It's not unusual for kids in the MOntreal area to trick or treat with snow on the ground. In TO that's pretty rare.

I'm just arguing your "9 months" of frigid cold argument. It's more like 7 months.

If you ask most Americans, those two buffer months are frigid too.  We just have a harder standard of cold.
