Refinished

Not at all arcade related, but I figured I might as well throw this up under Woodworking. Found a desk on CL for my old lady to do her arts/crafts things on and have a place for her to store her stuff. Offered the guy $50 over the phone thinking the stuff on top of the desk was dust. When I got to the place and actually saw the desk, it was kind of beat up and what I thought was dust was actually water damage. Talked the dude down to $35. I figured it wouldn't be too hard to refinish. Anyway, here's the pics that were on CL:



I think I spent about 4 hours sanding with a random orbit sander. Cleaned the dust off and applied some wood conditioner. I stained it twice with some red mahogany stain and let it sit over night. After the stain was fully cured I applied three coats of a satin finish polyurethane. And after a quick knob job, here's the result:


Turned out pretty nice for being my first refinishing project. Now I'm looking for a large cedar chest to refinish.
