Title: MS8-26U blowing Horizontal Output Transistor
Post by: mongrel on February 02, 2010, 11:38:18 pm
Hello,

I have a Nanao MS8-26U from a virtual fighter that I am trying to repair.  The monitor had no picture and the anode was never being  energized.  On first inspection I could see that the secondary fuse was blown.  I did a search on this forum and found that some else had a similar problem which involved replacing Q533 (D1880) and Q901(C3306) transistors.  I removed and tested these on my monitor, and sure enough they were both shorted (collector to emitter).  I replaced them and powered up the monitor.  Hooray! tube is energized and has a square but fuzzy image...but wait is the image getting brighter and brighter?  POP!  both transistors blow again!   I have tried to test every component around the +b ADJ and anything else that looks like it might lead up to the HOT.  But I can find nothing else wrong.  Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

have you tested the smps area and flyback? could be a power issue possibly...just a thought.
