Title: New Cocktail, What game? :S
Post by: DillonFoulds on February 02, 2010, 08:17:13 pm
Hey guys, I picked up an Arkanoid conversion cocktail table. I'll create a progress thread later :P For now, I'm wondering what game was under it!

The old CPOs were covered up by this garish red/grey mac-tac looking stuff, as seen on P1...

Here's the mac-tac removed on P2...

Here's a closeup of what looks like "CONTROL(S)" under what would probably be P2 joystick(?). The grey/black lines in this are from the mac-tac...

And here's a couple body shots of the cocktail, if it helps you guys go on anything...

By speculation, I'd say it was likely a 2 player 1joy, 2button setup. It looks like they filled the joystick with a new button 1, the old button 1 is now the spinner, and the old b2 was covered over with mac-tac, so i put buttons to fill the holes for the time being. They aren't currently connected to anything, but if i keep it arkanoid, i'll wires them in parallel to b1, unless I decide to fill in the holes.

I figured I'd post these pictures up here and see if it gives anyone a lead as to what it could have been. I can't find any stickers inside, but i'll for sure take pictures of anything you guys need. The monitor is not stock, either, and a new switching power supply was put in.

My vote goes for Super Pac Man.

There is a picture of a Super Pac-Man cocktail here

The style looks a little different than yours. I'd say it's something else.

OK, then my next guess is 1979 Midway cocktail, probably space invaders. But it had to have been converted in between that and arkanoid, since the original space invaders used a 1 - 2 button setup, and this one shows a joystick having been fitted at some point in the past. The font for the word 'Control' matches the space invaders cocktail control panel font though.

Don't those cocktails have the metal legs, though?

No the one I was thinking of was this design:

Necro-Bump! :P

I still haven't been able to find anything on this cab. I'm 100% positive it's not actually arkanoid, as the PCB is a clone, and the spinners look nothing like anything i've seen on an arkanoid cab.

Turn the screen on, and bump the bright up a bit with no input (black screen), and see if you can see different burn in patterns. If it lived its life as two different games for any length of time, you should be able to see both burn in patterns (the older one will be a bit more faint tho)

It's not the original monitor though, the guy i bought it from bought it with a dead monitor, and resold. :( Pretty much all i have to go on is the CPO art, i think.
