Title: Screen flipping
Post by: brock.sampson on January 27, 2010, 10:09:35 am
Thinking about building a cocktail cab based on Track & Field style for a friend.  One side will have the regular street fighter layout.  The other side will have a trackball and a few buttons.  So all trackball games will need to be flipped.  I can handle that part in mame.  The frontend is my bigger concern.  I'm trying to standardize on hyperspin as my frontend.  I was thinking I would break out joystick games and trackball games into separate wheels.  I would have to make a new main page for the trackball games and flip all the images for the games 180 degrees.  Just seeing if anybody has any other ideas for screen flipping.  I'm still very early in this project really just kicking around ideas for right now.

Most video cards that can rotate the screen have hot-keys that can control the rotation.  You could use AHK (or x-padder...depending on your cab) to issue those commands on certain button combo presses. Then each end of the table could flip the screen when needed.

So say Coin1+P1 = flip

Yes I follow.  I was hoping for something a little more automated.  So when you get to the list of trackball games it automatically flips.

FWIW, Mala front end does that sort of thing; depending on who's using which controls where ever they are sitting, the screen automagically flips around to be oriented to them.  You can switch lists at the same time, so the folks on the trackball side can only select trackball games.

NOP I downloaded a copy of mala.  I found the controller detection configuration but I don't see where you can use a mouse to flip the screen.  Posted over in Mala forum as well no replies yet.  Any ideas how to use the mouse to cause the display to flip?

yeah, I saw your post over there, sorry I can't help with that.
the mala help section is your best bet.  I only have U360s on my machine.
