Title: ArcadeVGA rebooting the PC....
Post by: Ghoward on July 24, 2003, 12:44:40 pm
Hi,

I am having a problem with ArcadeVGA rebooting my PC. The PC works OK with it's onboard VGA card. However when I install ArcadeVGA the system boots up OK in 16 color mode and finds the card. At this point the PC reboots itself everytime.

I am running windows XP.

Is this the first time you put the card in the machine? If so,
it may be trying to automatically install the ati base drivers which
will not work.  Try booting into safe mode F8 at startup I think gives options.
Then install the arcadeVGA drivers from the ultimarc CD. This should work.

Also, make sure to manually disable the onboard video, either by going into your BIOS, or setting a jumper on the motherboard.

I had the same problem.. if you pay attention, you'll notice the blue screen of death for a second before it reboots..

Press F8, select SAFE MODE, and install the drivers from the CD provided.

Lastly, install the ATI control panel.. and tell me if it shows up for you.. cuz for me it never shows up on the task bar, and it seemed to have killed the task bar, since nothing shows up on it! (and I'm an IT Professional, and know the inside out of XP, and still can't find the solution online for it!)
