Title: X arcade stick

Hi all,
I am a complete noob interested in modding my X arcade.
I wanted to know if I wanted to switch just the stick knob
could I just unscrew it and put like another color on or would I
have to swap the whole unit? which is the best stick to get if I
do have to swap out?

You should be able to change the buttons and joysticks to whatever you want. It's really not that hard, may take a little time.

Most knobs unscrew and can be replaced. If X doesn't, yes you can replace the entire joystick. I haven't seen inside the X console but would guess everything will be attached with slide on connectors to the microswitches. Best brands of sticks are open for debate and may rely on your location what is available. Personally Sanwa is my 1st choice and Zippy make a good quality and great value stick at close to half the price.
