Hello,
I very recently decided to Mod my Hotrod SE.
After recently building my Aimtrack lightgun ...
Well I felt Confident enough to tap into the HotRod " Secret buttons".
I searched every store available here for the hole drilling bits..
Unfortunately they only had 1 inch and 1 1/4 hole drilling bits.
1 inch was too small and 1 1/4 was too big.
I would love to know what the Exact size for this is?
Is it standard or possibly a metric size?
Where is a good Online place to order an assortment for this
hobby at a good price?
I ended up using the 1 inch bit and just Dremelling out until I got
my new buttons installed
But it still turned out fairly well My HotRod now has Esc and Pause!
I also added a Green Arcade button in the back.
This powers up my Mame PC. ;)

Funnily enough its 1 1/8" for standard 'Happ' buttons :)
You can also use a 28mm bit but they can be a little tight.
I'm not sure what availability is like in the states but I haven't had any problem buying either size forstner bits over here in the UK.
I'm sure someone in the US will be able to point you in the right direction for a set.
Enjoy your new buttons :)

Thanks,
So 1 1/8 it is. :)
I defiantly can't get that size here in my town. :(
So Will someone recommend a good online store that Sells
an assortment that will come in handy for this hobby?
Sure I could google... but would love to hear of a Good Value set
and some of good quality.
Anyone? ::)

You don't have a hardware store or a Sears in anywhere near you? 1 1/8 is a pretty common size I believe.

I would think it would be too.
But No!
We have a Home Depot here and they don't have a 1 1/8.

Is a Spade better or a hole saw?
( couldn't think of the name earlier when I posted )
I might can get a spade .. I had been looking for a hole saw.
I will look again this weekend and see if they have those Spade's.
I'm definitely curious which will give the best results?

I personally would recommend a forstner bit over a hole saw or spade bit for the majority of holes you will be drilling, especially the 1 1/8" etc CP holes.

I linked to a couple of threads there but if you search for 'forstner' in the woodworking board you will find a shed load of relevent threads.

Hi,
A good addition to anyones took kit is one of those conecut drills (a tapered drill) they come in about two or three sizes.
They will cut through thin steel but are great on perspex etc.

Thanks everyone for the Advise!
I will try to find Fostner bits around here.
If not I will try the internet.
Thanks!

How hard was it to add the extra buttons to the Hotrod (not the drilling part, but the soldering/wiring and such)?
I have a Hotrod SE also (already integrated in to the cab) but I've been using button combos for escape and such... wishing I had a dedicated button

Here is the info you need to connect to the HotRod Controller
