for a mamecab, autologin can be achieved with minlogon (furthermore it adds as a side effect bonus a faster login and shutdown)

problems.
auto login as admin (potential security issues, on a normal PC, but on a mame cab no problems)
no more ctrl-alt-del key combo for the task manager (should be ctrl-ald-d, but I never succeded on having it functional)
some shortucts are lost.

Install TweakUI and use the autologon feature. Done. Every single computer I have with XP on it gets TweakUI as the second thing I install (after antivirus).

Yes, what saint said. TweakUI is one of Microsoft's official powertools for XP.

I wish people wouldn't just post a link... would it be so hard to write just a few words to go with it?

For XP the easiest way I found is to do this:
Start => run
Type: control userpasswords2  <-click ok or press enter
uncheck the box that says: User's must enter a user name and password to access this system

End result is the same as Tweakui - to each their own ;)

You know, when you add the word "Google" to a thread, the page goes up in Google's ranks.

I get this at least half of the time I try to use Google.  Your first 5 results are forum posts where the replies say "Google it, you lazy bum," and the question is never actually answered.  Incredibly annoying.  Don't just tell someone to "Google it" unless you've already tested your theory...and if you've done that, it's not much harder to paste a link and say, "try this."

Granted, this was a simple question, and Google would have been fine.  But it just as easily could have yielded a results page full of threads where the only information is how apparently stupid the OP is for asking.

Sorry, I know...  :blah:  I don't mean to get upset.  It just gets on my nerves, and I hate to see it here.

No, I mean something like "Here's a link to...". You posted a link with no explanation.

Just some food for thought....

Links that provide information are wonderful.  When that information answers the original question, even better!

What I would like to point out is the 'search-ability' of these boards.  The more actual text describing the issue and/or fix, the better chance it will be found when searching by someone in the future.

If a previously asked question can be easily located, it will reduce the probability of it being asked again.

My 2 cents.
