I know the diameter of the holes for carriage bolts is .23" or 6mm. I'm however unsure if I should get carriage bolts just below that size or not..? Never used bolts much, and haven't had to follow instructions before either. (Can't bring the hardware to the hardware store because it isn't with me)

I suggest 3/16" carriage bolts OR size #10 machine screws/bolts/nuts
I've heard people mash 1/4" carriage bolts through their supers etc... but they had to "widen" the hole a little bit (or whatnot)...
So yeah... 3/16" carriage bolts that are long enough to go through your control panel and the top base of te joystick.
Good luck,

They didn't have the right size, so I got what were called 5/16", but they looked smaller than 1/4" at the store - but they fit through a 17/64" hole! So it wasn't so bad, I had to drill the holes a bit bigger in the plastic. They still feel strong. I think those measurements might be all of so don't try and use them. I ended up doing everything by eye.
