Hi,
i have an Ultimarc 2 1/4 " trackball in my control panel which is mounted via the ultimarc rackball mounting plate.
i would like to install an illuminated trackball in there but don't want to have to redo my control panel so if I bought Electric ICE™ RGB Trackball Lighting Upgrade Kit V2.0 from groovy game gear http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=74&products_id=273 (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=74&products_id=273) will this just be a simple process of removing my non illuminated trackball and installing the iluminated one with no fuss or modification? Would I also be able to mount the illumination system thing under the ultimarc trackball mounting plate?
Thanks in Advance

I can only offer guesses, as I don't have the Ultimarc trackball. I do have a Betson, which is the base of of GGG's offerings. If you take the 2 1/4" option on the link you provide, the ball should fit perfectly. I have the same lighting kit on my 3" trackball - the LED module is meant to mount over a hole at the bottom of the Betson case. Not knowing anything about the Ultimarc, I can only advise that you might need to get creative on mounting the LED part. If you look at the first pic in the link you sent, you can see that it's a square board with screws and spacers. Take a look at the bottom of your Ultimarc and see if you can find a way to mount it. You may need to create a hole (just big enough for the LED's to show thru). The screws work their way into the plastic well - I don't recall if a small pre-drilled hole is required, but the instructions that come with the kit should cover that. Sorry I can't help more.

I have the 3" Utrak with RGB option and the bottom of the case has a hole which the LED mounts to and shines up from so if the 2 1/4 is the same then you shouldnt have a problem.

Thanks for your replies on this. I finally got around to ordering one so when it arrives I'll have a go at installing it and report back how it goes and how easy it was.

I did exactly this same thing, but with a 3" trackball. Like scream said, if that size is the same, it should be no problem.
