I am building a jukebox and I'd love to add a web cam to make it serve as a photobooth. I know macs come with a cool software package that takes 3 pictures within certain time increments and then you can add effects. Does anyone know of any PC software that would work with a touchscreen and serve as a photobooth? Thanks in advance...

I hadn't thought of something like that so I went looking and came across this -

Hadn't tried it yet for touchscreen compatibility, but will let ya know when I do.
(if you don't first)

It does say that they have touchscreen functionality. Cool.
Looks like what I am looking for, but the pricetag is ridiculous... $600? I don't see a non-commercial license either...
I wonder if they have a version that only saves the pictures to the harddrive, which obviously wouldn't be commercial use.
I think I had found this one in the past but didn't bother with it since it was so expensive.

Here's something open source for Linux

Another, under windows, but it looks pretty simple

Very nifty idea. Hadn't thought of anything like that but it'd be great for parties...

I am going to add this camera (black of course!) in order to allow for an easy way to extend out of the cab and fold it up when not in use. It looks pretty slick and perfect for this application.

I have tried openphotobooth and I get the browser to pick up the web cam, but I dont see any button to snap the pics. Anyone else try this one?

I sent them an e-mail asking if there was a home use only license available and they offered me a license for $150.
Still too steep for what I'm doing, but was great that they even offered a huge discount of any sort.

Will give that one a try too... this is the first time I've even thought about looking into something like this, kinda has me intrigued now.
EDIT: Just found this on their site -
How to use it! (The Abridged Version)
You can see a longer, hopefully better How-To at http://wiki.github.com/jmhobbs/OpenPhotoBooth/how-to (http://wiki.github.com/jmhobbs/OpenPhotoBooth/how-to)
Once you have it downloaded/installed you will want to start the GUI. On Windows that is "opb_gui.exe", on other platforms that is "python opb_gui.py".
It may take a moment to start up, but once is does all you need to do is click the "Start" button. This should run for a second and then you are good to go.
Now, open a browser (we like Chrome's full screen mode) and visit http://localhost:8080/. (http://localhost:8080/.) This is the web server running on your computer.
You may have to enable web-cam access from flash, but eventually you should get to a screen with your web-cam feed visible in the center. Click on the white area of the page and then hit "c" (which stands for capture).
This should start a count down and take your picture four times.
Once it is done, look in the installation directory for the static folder, and the photos folder. This is where your snapshots are.
Right off hand it doesn't sound like it will be touchscreen friendly if you have to use the keyboard for "C".
This is going to be like choosing juke software, just have to download a bunch and try them out.

I sent them a message and got the same response for $150. I am going to send them back an email saying that is too much. I think I'd take the plunge if it worked well and was around $50. How does the software function? I haven't tried it out yet. I think I'd like it to be a physical push button to take the pics anyway. It would be cool if it even operated in the background so a button could be pressed to take pictures even if the jukebox was currently on the touchscreen. Thanks, we'll find something that will work.
I also emailed the openphotobooth guy and asked if they needed any testers. He said it hasn't been in development for some time now...
Let's make this work, it will be a cool (and easy addition to any bar top/jukebox)

DOH!! :dizzy: :banghead:
MY Bad for not reading that part. I stopped at the part where you have to open the Flash properties and set them.

I got this to work with Firefox but not IE 8.0 I kept getting errors with IE 8.0 but with Firefox, it's spot on! The photo's are 640 x 480 but I'm not so sure that isnt the web cam setting and not the openphotobooth program.
Now to make a batch file to get them to print automatically and this would be a great party guest pleaser!

I was interested in doing this at one point and someone sent me these links. I don't know if they are still good or not. All you can do is try them and see.
