Playing around with MAME, there are tons and tons of titles that I have never heard of. Trying some of these out, occasionally I find some games that are awesome!
One of these games that has me absolutely hooked is Toffy (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=10131). I keep going back to it, and I keep trying to see how far I can get in it. I like that it's not a twitchy game, but one that you have to think your way through a bit (almost like a puzzle game). It looks simple, but the gameplay is complex.
;D
Anyway, I'm curious what game keeps you coming back over and over again? What game has you hooked?
-
I think Donkey Kong gets the most play on mine. Rastan has been a favorite of mine since it first hit arcades, so I play it in MAME quite a bit.
-
hmmmm...this is hard, because I find myself still searching on my mame collection...Its funny, but when i get in the mood to play my mame. I always end up playing X-men vs SF. It not my 1st favorite choice , but it seems that i always scroll to it. Bomberman, Puzzle Bobble, Samurai Showdown 2, Chiller, DK series, have been my most played games...But quite frankly Ive been away from my cab doing other projects (checking out auctions and trying to build new cabs or doing improvements to my mame cab), so i really havent had the time to sit back and explore the other games. My wife, who never messed with arcades , but loves console games, loves to play Beastorizer (arcade cab prequel to the Bloody Roar games for PS), my 3 year old daughter loves to play anything Batman (Daddy a batman fan, so she loves Batman also + she knows how to break-in an X-arcade console)
I guess its X-men vs SF, because for some weird reason I'm 35 and I still remember the special moves after 10-12 years of not playing.
(damn,... Im old) Plus two, with Mame, I can play and beat the game with each character without having to blow my paycheck on it.
Sorry for rambling , but i think i am going to go and cry now...(mid-life crisis) :laugh2:

I really like a bunch
of games.
I find G.I. JOE (arcade/mame)
to be a really good stress relief.
You can just blow the crap out
of everything in that game.
-
Wizard of Wor. I had a friend who had the arcade game in his basement back in the early 80's. It was the coolest thing I could think of at the time. I still love playing it to this day.
-
I get addicted to Buster Bros(Or Pang... same game).
-
I am hooked on a feeling.
David Hasselhoff - Hooked on a Feeling (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJQVlVHsFF8#)

I remember when I accidentally found Cameltry (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7263) on my previous cab. Awesome game! Used to play it with a trackball, but now that I have a spinner on my new cab it'll probably be even more awesome. ;)
-
That Cameltry looks familiar- I think I've played that in the arcades back in the day. Is it meant to use a spinner?

That's a great game that I found by accident, too! I had originally only played it with the keyboard, and moving up to the spinner really made a difference!

GI JOE (whoever liked it) is a copy of Devastators http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7573 (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7573) may want to check that game out (only 2 player).
I always find something fun, believe i mentioned before in one of these lists Guwange (awsome shooter) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guwange (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guwange)
Wierd games that nobody plays but I enjoy, mystic marathon (man i sure dont remeber the graphics being that pastel), Warden, maybe some Reactor (the music is so cool).
-
I'm hooked on classics.
-
I play a rediculous amount of Knights of the Round. Knowing full well that all it is is walking to the right and pressing the attack buttons mindlessly. I can't get enough regardless.
-
Right now I'm not hooked on anything in MAME.
I'm really into Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection for Wii. I already had the PS2 version, but for some reason, the Wii version keeps me coming back.
-
I'm hooked on the Pac Family. Also the Invaders klan and Asteroids.
I'm also stuck in the 80's. :P
-
I'm hooked on Double Dragon (Neo Geo) and street fighter II champion edition.
-
I'm hooked on Athena (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=6961) because the ---Bad words, bad words, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when saint censors you?--- game cheats. It's sort of like an RPG, maybe along the lines of Wonder Boy in Monster Land, except there is no real clear method of continuing when you die and you lose everything you collected when you die. I don't know. Sometimes it lets me continue, sometimes it doesn't. I think there is an item you can find that determines this. I'm figuring it out as I go.
Anyway, the game should be dumb, but I'm continually drawn to it like a lab rab to an electrified grid.
-
A couple years back I was looking for an old Hockey game I used to love and stumbled onto Power Play. It's a top-down one on one soccer game from '85 and now I'm totally hooked. I've got many thousands of plays on this since I started. It's insane and ridiculous but I can't stop. The last 2000 or so plays were played at 167% speed which gives the computer a great level of competitiveness that I just.... can't... stop.... challenging!

Mille Miglia
That old school, what is it, isometric? view and the drifting (from back when it was still just called skidding :) ) is a blast.
That and Targ. But I was hooked on Targ back in 1986 hanging out at the Forum Fair, too.
At least I'm consistent.

I love threads like this where I learn about cool new games to try.
Midway's Trog.
I have an actual machine that friends love to play when they come over. I set it to a limited amount of continues and lives and we play for score.
Needless to say I really rock at it now, but I never get tired of it. I can play it for 10 hours straight!
-
I'm not totally hooked on anything in particular at the moment, but I discovered the high score competition (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=99148.0) thread recently, and I've been going down that list. So far the ones I'm playing quite a bit of are Klax and Bank Panic. There are a lot of others I like, but they're extremely hard to play without real controls.
-
I keep coming back to Boot Hill and Dock Man. I tried looking on KLOV for Dock Man but doesn't seem to be listed?
Edited to add, this game was known mainly as portman apparently: http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9094 (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9094)

I'm hooked on Mr. Do! I just finished building a vertical cabinet (post coming soon folks!) and now I play it all the time. I also love playing Zookeeper on my Horizontal cabinet.

Been playing Williams HOF Pinball and Super Mario Bros on the Wii. My two youngest are addicted to Mario and have pulled me along.
Thanks to RayB I have "Hooked on a Feeling" stuck in my head. :banghead:
-
cant stop playing crazy climber 2. I get so pissised off when I fall that i just try again. I am serious, it is recking my life. I might drop out of my graduate courses in mathmatics to play it more.
By the way, did david really need to snowboad with a salmon in his mouth. What the hell man! That may be OK in Germany, but here? :soapbox:

Pretty sure that's not OK in Germany, either.

Black Tiger
Tetris Attack
and getting good with Guy in STA3
-
Jr. Pac-Man...trying to get to the 7th board on regular speed, unsuccessful so far (have come within a few dots of clearing board 6 twice). I have a real love-hate relationship with that game. I think I like it the most of the 3 regular Pac games, but it frustrates the heck out of me because it's so hard ;D

Muramasa on Wii
Prototype on 360 but mostly Ive been eating right and excersizing.

Weren't both of these taken from Cabal? I played the hell out of Cabal and if you haven't, I would give it a go. Try the same game dynamic with a trackball.....very fun.
Sine i've had to kill my cab, I've been playing MAME stuff via joy pad....not the same, but I keep playing D&D, and a shooter I can't remember.. it's a vertical shooter similar to Raiden, but you can play as a robot dude, a witch, or a rocket man. Strangely I've been giving 10 Yard Fight some love lately too.

I never get to play games i spend all of my time working & fixing up my machines
