In EMULoader, if you want to play Street Fighter, you can type "str" and it will bring you right to the beginning of the str.... games. To play Joust, I could type "jo".
It appears that Mamewah does not have this feature. Are there any plans to add it?

most people use mamewah with the idea of eliminating the need for a keyboard.
so i doubt it will be added, or atleast if it is im sure it wont be a priority

he could add next letter/next number like I do. Press the left key plus shift in dk to skip to the next letter (from the a's to he b's ect) and vice versa. It works quite well.

I understand that some of you don't use keyboards, but today, so many of the new arcade cabinets come with keyboard slide out drawers. When you have thousands of roms, being able to type the beginning of the name saves so much time.

Those are for maintenance and are never intended for navigation.

I'm sorry, but that doesn't make sense. If the keyboard is there, if the arcade machine is in your home, why in the world wouldn't you use it?
I have thousands of roms to choose from. My buddy will say, "Let's play Track and Field next". I slide out the keyboard just enough to hit "tr" and the game is highlighted. It's that easy! I mean, yeah, you could scroll or page down with the joystick, but with this keyboard feature, I'll be playing before you even find it.

Sorry, I do not plan to add this feature :(. Firstly, because I think you are a bit in the minority of cab users that actually use the keyboard, but also because most cab/control panel builders use keyboard encoders of some sort...this always means that letter keys will have to be used. This would cause a problem, eg 'r' is the standard MAME key for P2 up, which by default in MAMEWAH is up 100 games - you get the idea...
Howards idea is I guess the nearest kind of thing I would add, but I'm in no hurry atm :-\

Another option is to add an accelerating factor in the scroll speed. As long as the user is holding down or up on the list it will continue to accelerate (jump increasingly 1, 10,20,30,etc ... games at a time so it is readable) ... thus making 4k+ games scroll by much better. You could even make the scroll multipier user-configurable to suit tastes.
The side-effect is that it causes the user to do more pulse-style scrolling, but considering that most of us are playing games I think we could adapt to that quite well. ;)

fav list maybe ???
originals only list at the least. not that big a deal

I would like the option to use the spinner or trackball to scroll through the list.

I would like to add this. ATM I could do it a dirty way but I'm not going to do that. I *think* to do it properly I need to use some Windows hooks, which I am unsure how to do atm using VB, so unless someone sends me some code I am probably not going to be able to do this for a good while (I'm already 2 months behind starting my cab :( )

Someone should help him out, mmmmm trackball scrolling ;D
