Title: Does a tri-sync monitor auto sense resolutions?
Post by: secret80sman on January 03, 2010, 04:39:15 am
This may be obvious to most of you but does a monitor like a wg9800 auto sense what Windows is giving it? ex. 15, 25, or 31? And does the fact that it is tri-sync mean it cannot be damaged by whatever video signal windows feeds it unlike an older arcade monitor?

thanks in advance.

the 9800 will auto detect 15-38khz,as long as your signal is within that range you will not damage the monitor-as far as i am aware all modern digital chassis basically shut down if the signal is too high so there is no chance of damage

Thanks Grant, I tried a couple of different resolutions and sometimes there is a flicker that looks terrible. I guess if it doesn't damage anything then no worries. Does Soft-15khz automatically swap resolutions depending on what you tell it to or based on specific resolutions? For example 800x600?

Have read through some of it, you are correct, it is massive. Back to school for me on this subject then.

Thanks!

If you're seeing flicker then you are probably in interlaced mode.  Did you install all three modes with Soft 15khz?  If you only install 15khz mode then 640x480 will be interlaced.
