Another win for Peter Jackon (",)
A great story, well realised. Sarandon makes a great drunken grandma ;D Stanley Tucci is a great as the creepy next door neighbour. Poor bugger is type cast a bit as 'under the radar killers'. But hey, i bet it pays the bills! And Marky Mark is, well, Marky Mark- capable, but not brilliant. But i like the dude regardless, for someone who once did time for attempted murder, i think he's ok...
And the star is (ill have to google that freaky name) Saoirse Ronan. She has already done 3 major movies and she's only 15! As long as she doesn't do a Drew Barrymore, she'll go far. Very talented young lady. If you want to get an idea of her talent, check out Atonement if you haven't seen it.
I hadn't realised that there was so much CGI in this movie. Makes sense when Jackson is involved. They were used to great effect for many of simple, but elegant symbolic scenes.
I'm scoring high, I reckon 5/5. I gave that to Avatar too, even though this is a much better story. But movies are for entertainment, both were equally entertaining, for different reasons. And i scored high for District 9 too, which is another movie where Jackson is involved. Good onya, Jacko! He's bringing in a lot of specialised industry to NZ, something I wish aussie movie makers would do for us...
my score for recent movies you may have seen:
5/5 - Michael Clayton, In Bruges, Gran Torino, Mary and Max
4.5/5 - Taken, Iron Man, Reign Over Me
4/5 - Traitor, Bedtime Stories, Sunshine, pineapple express
3.5/5 - 300, Max Payne, You dont mess with the Zohan, Yes Man
3/5 - That new Indiana Jones flick, Disturbia, That new TMNT flick,
2.5/5 - Angels and Demons
2/5 - The Love Guru. Note: My 2 is probably someone elses 1. Just leaving room for worse!

Wow, I didn't even know about this movie. I think I'll check it out.
One thing though, this is the second (third?) movie I can recall that portrays a tree in heaven in that manner. I must of missed something in bible class about the significance of the Tree.
-
I would assume that the tree represents the tree of life. It certainly did in Knowing.
Never saw it. Couldn't decide if I wanted to watch yet another movie with Cage.

Has Bones seen this? ;D

That did cross my mind...

I bought an old paper back book at a used store years ago, loaned it to someone and never got it back.
It was called "Bones", I cant remember the author though, and a search of it on google didnt turn up anything.
I dont know how old it was when I bought it 15-18 years ago.
Anyway, this is a story about a serial killer who kidnaps young boys, tortures them to death, then stores their bodies in plastic bags in his basement. It was surprisingly a pretty good story.
I was wondering if this book inspired the movie?
I guess I need to go see it, so please no spoilers!

This movie is based on the novel "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold (which is nothing like the book you described)

I can no longer trust Danny's movie ranking.
My gf read the book and wanted to see it, I figured if Danny gave it a 5 it can't be that bad. ...it was.
Even my gf didn't like it, she was also lucky enough to fall asleep through it.
You know how sometimes you watch a based on a book movie with a friend who read the book you occasionally have to ask, what something means or how a scene unfolded in the book. There were a few things that weren't really explained in the movie, girl who saw the ghost, brother who thinks he sees her ghost, all the pointless montages in the afterlife. But I figured the answers would be as painful as the question so I didn't ask.
I spent two hours waiting to see this guy suffer a painful death and the women he killed saw him getting dragged to hell.
Nope, he escapes the law, and after the family learns to let go of their daughter, or was she the one holding on to them? ...Oh wait, that’s right, WHO CARES! they cut back to the bad guy and he loses his balance and falls off a cliff and dies.
The End.
I hope I've saved at least one person from renting this piece of crap.

My gf told me about the book's ending, it’s much better.
If you end up renting this POS and after 1/4 into it you start thinking to yourself this is a POS I just want to see the happy ending(and you're a straight male), turn off the movie and read the last 3/4 of the book.

I'd rather just read the last 1/4 ,lol
as long as the ending is different its not totally ruined.
