Hello all. Help me save a classic.
I saved this guy from a garbage pile. My buddy was throwing it away. Doesn't work and I get no nothing. I think it is a power supply problem. When it was working (years ago) it took forever to warm up then you could finally play.
Can I get a new power supply for this thing? I did attempt to use the search engine also. I found a few things but nothing on power supplies.
I am a mega noob so any advice would be helpful. :applaud:

This green wire was crammed into the main power switch terminals. Is is a ground?

Have you checked your fuses? I circled one that looks kinda rough. Although even if that is bad I doubt thats the reason it took a long time to "warm up"

Yes that's a ground. See the little metal tab held in by that screw? A ground should attach to that so that's probably where that wire was. I wouldn't worry about the power supply until you know where the problem lies. This game's pcb takes AC input from one of those 2 transformers in the cabinet and converts it to DC on the board. Transformers are usually pretty robust so it's very possible the problem isn't there. I would start by checking the fuses (with a multimeter and not just eyeballing them) as already suggested. Can you coin the game up get any game sound from it? There are also common issues with Pacman and Ms Pacman machines such as bad fuse holders and bad edge connectors that can cause issues. By the way that's a very nice score! The game looks pretty clean and you can't beat free. :cheers:

Ok I'll connect the ground up. Time to fire up the soldering iron.
Right now no sound no nothing when I'm plugging it in and hitting the switch. I've got the door safety switch pulled out so it's no that.

Replaced a few fuses and nothing.....then I whooped out the multimeter and found the power cable was not carrying a current. Replaced and bam power and game play! :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:
