Title: CRT with H-K short

I have a tube that my tube rejuvenator says has a heater to cathode short. As soon as a chassis is plugged in to it, the chassis' fuse blows. I have confirmed that the degaussing coil isn't shorted to the frame; I don't connect it when working on monitors. All that it takes out is the fuse. The same chassis put on another tube(with the fuse replaced, of course) works. Is it possible to cure a H-K short?

Maybe...you can isolate the heater circuit altogether with some wire and snipping the traces on the neckboard.  You could also try "removing shorts" but IIRC that's not recommended in this situation.

sure its just an HK short and not also a 2nd anode short  ? 
a 2nd anode short puts up to full anode voltage on crt pins ( 20-25kv) this will usually blow a fuse


an hk short will produce a bright r/b/or green pic w/retrace , or all white w/retrace . usually will run awhile without popping a fuse

and yes, isolating the filament ground loop can get around an HK short
