Title: Asshat Arcade Vids
Post by: FrizzleFried on December 29, 2009, 04:30:23 pm
Last night I took a couple video's of my gameroom... the first is only about 7 minutes and has no talking... just music and game noises.  The 2nd is broken in to two parts and is about 20 minutes in length.  I talk a little about the different games, etc.  I find it strange that both vids were recorded with the same camera and encoded with the same software with the same settings yet one is a full screen 1280x720 while the other (longer 2 part video) is squished with black bars at the top and bottom?  Not sure what happened as both (all 3) vids look the same on my end when running off the hard drive.

In any case,  here is the 7:15 vid:

Here is the two part 20 minute vid:

Thanks for posting.  For someone who is trying to get started collecting this is very interesting.  That is quite a collection.  When did you pick up your first cabinet?

My first cabinet was a MAME... I picked up a gutted Street Fighter which was actually a Robocop cabinet... I think it was August 2006.  After I built that MAME cab (with a TON of help from the fine folks here at BYOAC) I decided I wanted to build a vertical MAME cab... but before I could find a suitable cabinet I came across a Joust for $50.00... non working of course.  $56 later (it was a power supply) and I had my first dedicated arcade machine and I got hit by the "bug".  I think that was around November 2006.  I ended up finding another cabinet for my vertical MAME... then I got the DKJr you see in the video (the "Double Donkey Kong Plus")... and it took off from there.

The most cabs I had at one time was around 24 or 25... and I even had a Star Wars cockpit once (25" amplifone too)... but I got too good of an offer for it so I felt I had to sell.  I miss it... >sigh<

thanks for sharing...

you could always stick those 4" casters on a easily fabricated mobile base for your battlezone that would add a couple of more inches to get it up higher...

I'm impressed.  That is a lot of games in a short amount of time.

About how big (square feet) is your game room?  Seems like you have packed a lot of games into a small space without looking cramped.

The 1 car garage side is approximately 10' x 20'... the 2 car garage side is approximately 20' x 20' but much of that area is workshop/storage area.

I've been considering building a 12 x 12 workshop out back... then I could move the workshop stuff out back and make more room for... games.

:)

Speaking of more games... I just bought a Spy Hunter for $180 today.

I pick it up Sunday.
