Title: Help! I-pac SW not conecting untill released
Post by: rackoon on December 27, 2009, 02:45:55 pm
Well I hooked up my new control panel yesterday and every thing worked I got two 8-ways with 6 buttons and a 4-way in the middle; its all pretty standard.  ;D

Well, as it goes for the 4-way, I had to custom map the Switches so no one bumped it and ruine someone's game

OH, BY THE WAY, THE I-PAC PANEL DESIGNER AND PROGRAMER SOFTWARE IS AWESOME. HATS OFF TO ULTIMARC! :notworthy:

Anyway, I have the the 2SW8 programed to be Left on my 4-way and the I-pac only notices it as a click when the switch is relesed. So when you relese the button a ship fires or pac-man moves left when return the joystick to center. :dunno

1. YES THE WIRING IS CORRECTLY HOOKED UP TO THE SWITCH
2. YES I HAVE TRIED CHANGING SWITCHES

Yea, I know, I could just skip this switch and program another input, but I need all the other inputs for addmin buttons. :hissy:
Am I missing somthing. Is there a quick fix.

I would leave things as is on all switches, but would swap the wires from sw1 and sw2 on the ipac input block.  What happens then?  If SW1 now starts doing the same behavior, your wiring is probably screwed up and you should try troubleshooting from there (not an issue with the ipac).  If SW2 (which is now connected to another microswitch since you switched it) behaves the same as reported earlier and there is no difference, it's an ipac issue.

Just a wild guess here: Did you change 2sw8 button to be your 'shift' key in the ipac software? What you're describing is how the shift key works with the ipac:

When you press the "Start 1" (shift) button nothing happens immediately. The I-PAC waits to see if you are going to press another key at the same time. If you do press the "Player 1 Button 1" the shifted "Coin 1" code is sent. If you don’t press any other button the "Start 1" code is sent when you RELEASE the "Start 1" button. So you don’t get any unwanted key codes.
