Title: Controller not responding, please help if you can.
Post by: ncdude on December 25, 2009, 12:31:50 pm
Merry Christmas everyone,

Ok, I put together and arcade cabinet and installed a controller from North Coast Customs, the 2 two player model. I am running Mame with Mala and am able to see all the roms and use the joystick on the controller to move down the game list. Also I can use the one player button to start the game but am unable to fire or move without using the keyboard. Again the joystick works for turning and I can esc out of the mala interface using the controller but no matter what I do I cannot get the buttons to respond on the controller. I am sure this is a config somewhere but I am having no luck finding it. Could someone help me out in figuring this out???

Thanks,

Scott..

How 'bout if you run Mame from Windows instead of the Front End? Do they work them?

Have you set defaults (input) in mame ('tab' key while running a game)?
Enabled controllers in mame ini?

If so and it just stopped responding:
Open up notepad (windows) and see if you are getting some input for each button press and joystick direction.
If not, check:
-Device manager/keyboard/game controllers to see if your device(s)/encoder(s) is detected and working properly.
-the wiring for the buttons/directions that are not responding.

Do you know which encoder(s) North Coast Customs uses?
Which operating system are you running?
