Several collectors with decent collections, not to mention the guys in Lawton that lost everything in the fire in August that are rebuilding even bigger than ever.

I think Texas got more snow this winter than Vancouver did. Good thing we're hosting the winter Olympics in two months. :-\

Kevin, I really didn't want to beat the forum over the head with this, but Texans that have moved to Oklahoma and do not continually apologize for it are beyond contempt.
Yeah, it was not meant in any offense to you or camarolt1guy or anything, just thought the "from Texas" / "from Oklahoma" insinuating type comment was ironic.
Camarolt1guy is actually a very cool fella.
My father actually lives in Texas and I have plenty of family in Texas, so I could really care less either way.
My mother and step-father live here in Oklahoma. (next door actually)
I'm not from anywhere in particular. ;)
BTW - this is what I saw MOST of Christmas Eve.

All that being said - good lord, dare I ask how many people died on I-35 over the holiday?
Knowing the amount of friggin' idiots I saw just on the 2 mile stretch of I-40 I got stuck on for hours.... I'd hate to know.
Those pics I took with the traffic was a two-lane road with an overpass dead ahead of us, wtf were they all thinking?!? (in other words they all had to merge back in anyways)
That van about went rolling down the hillside when he swerved right after the white truck ahead of me nudged out in front of the traffic (i.e. the van) that kept trying to come up the shoulder of the road. And then that same white truck and the blue truck chained together to help get the van back on the road before he lost it alltogether. They were having a devil of a time, nearly cutting and swerving across both lanes.... all the while traffic kept trying to come up the shoulder right up in their way. They would literally come up around me and pull in front of me..... the space I was giving them to pull the van up.
One of numerous stupid stunts I saw in that short stretch of road.
All while I just sat there, not moving an inch.

I could never figure out why those people didn't buy cars better suited to the bad weather.
Not sure about out there but here it's the people in the SUVs that get killed. People in sedans generally know how to drive in the snow and are fine here. It's the idiot in a Cherokee who thinks 4wd means you can still go 65 in a snowstorm that ends up rolling 6 times and taking 4 other cars with her.
Really, driving in the snow is easy no matter what you are driving, if you use common sense. Slow the hell down. No sudden turns or stops. Turn the wheel into a skid if you start to fishtail. Don't tailgate people. After a while that stuff becomes so instinctive when the ground is white that it's hard to intentionally donut in a parking lot.

It's almost always like that. You pretty much have to assume there is ice under the snow. Some days are worse than others, of course, but on those days you can see it before you even get in the car. If it's 20 degrees out there is ice on the road every time. If it's 40, probably not.

The real problem in my area is these people drive like idiots on a normal day. Change the weather and suddenly they are even dumber than ever.
I agree with the sentiment of not being scared of driving, it's being scared of the opposite sex driving. ;D

Truth. The people here who get into most of the snowy accidents drive like maniacs in dry weather.
