Title: pentranic 32 cga chassis problem
Post by: GMZombie on December 22, 2009, 05:23:14 pm
I'm not sure about this so here goes. i have a 32" pentranic monitor chassis in my Mame machine and i checked the voltage going to the PCB and it says 12v on my dvm but i get no pic on screen. I'm not great with monitors but i thought they had to have more volts am i wrong or what does this sound like to be a problem?

do you get static on the crt?
do you get a flash from the screen when you switch off?
can you see an orange glow from the neck of the crt?
does the voltage to the monitor power read correctly?(either 110 or 220-depending on where you reside)

no static no orange glow no flash when on turned off or other way. my voltage after the iso trans is 12v that is going to the monitor power plug

looks like a monitor fault then, renowned for problems these large pentranics-are you getting any sort of noise like a ticking or a fizz when you turn on the cab

unless you are pretty clued up with monitor repairs i think this may be beyond you,you could try contacting rick nieman at nieman displays to see if he can repair it or supply a replacement chassis-are you in the U.S or U.K?

I would suggest contacting Rick then, imo it could be the HOT but I have heard terrible stories about these 33" pentranics flashing over and basically destroying vast sections of the electronics on the chassis
could be cheaper to buy a cheap replacement chassis from china
